Because they are ignorant. Its the same as people thinking that everybody in Africa is black - which is not so. I am from Africa and I'm white.

I thought the stereotype was that Irish people had red hair. Although, now that I think about it, I had a friend in high school who was a Scot and had red hair. I also dated a lovely red haired girl who was of Irish decent. Im confused.

Its a sterotype that has developed over the centuries.

Back when there was not as much 'mixed' breeding, people from the 'Norse' end of the world had a prevalance/tendancy towards red hair (not all of them just a good number). Like the Chinese peoples having a tendancy towards black hair. Over time this is how that sterotype evolved.

P.S. I have red hair and Scottish ancestory! ;P :)

i was born and raised in california, and if you ask me to describe a typical scottish person, i'd say:

they drink and swear a lot, probably catholic, they have red hair, and they hate being confused with the irish.

I'm a natural red head...and I'm very fare skinned, but if your dark skinned I would suggest a very dark auburn or a dark chocolate brown with auburn and gold highlights.

I would try a strawberry blonde or reddish blonde first, use a lighter red for summer time, then use darker for fall time. an auburnh may be to much at first if you are used to a very light blonde hair color. try a light reddish blonde and go from there. Good luck with the new color.

most people in this country (england) seem to, which annoys me as my missus and children have red hair. People think its ok to shout ginger in the street.They are no different to anyone else i would love to know where all the ginger hatred comes from. Anyone who says it doesn't exsist is talking crap.
