Why do ppl think that scottish ppl hav red hair?

Because they are ignorant. Its the same as people thinking that everybody in Africa is black - which is not so. I am from Africa and I'm white.

Why do ppl think that scottish ppl hav red hair?

Because some do.

Why do ppl think that scottish ppl hav red hair?

Because a lot of Scottish people I know have red hair...I know that's not always the case though.

Why do ppl think that scottish ppl hav red hair?

Scots have the highest percentage of redheads in the world.

Why do ppl think that scottish ppl hav red hair?

Because Irish people do and both of those are basically the same. LOL

Why do ppl think that scottish ppl hav red hair?

I thought that was an Irish stereotype.

Why do ppl think that scottish ppl hav red hair?

I thought the stereotype was that Irish people had red hair. Although, now that I think about it, I had a friend in high school who was a Scot and had red hair. I also dated a lovely red haired girl who was of Irish decent. Im confused.

Why do ppl think that scottish ppl hav red hair?

Its a sterotype that has developed over the centuries.

Back when there was not as much 'mixed' breeding, people from the 'Norse' end of the world had a prevalance/tendancy towards red hair (not all of them just a good number). Like the Chinese peoples having a tendancy towards black hair. Over time this is how that sterotype evolved.

P.S. I have red hair and Scottish ancestory! ;P :)

Why do ppl think that scottish ppl hav red hair?

i was born and raised in california, and if you ask me to describe a typical scottish person, i'd say:

they drink and swear a lot, probably catholic, they have red hair, and they hate being confused with the irish.

Why do ppl think that scottish ppl hav red hair?

the same reason u expect someone from africa to have dark skin.

people from that area of the world evolved rather fair complexions over 1000's of years.

Red hair

Naturally red hairRed hair is by far the least common hair color in the United States and in the world; around three percent of the U.S. population has red hair. It ranges from vivid strawberry shades to deep auburn and burgundy, and is found mainly in the British Isles and Scandinavia. While the Irish and the Scots are stereotypically noted for red hair, the English are statistically more apt to be redheads. Many physical anthropologists now believe red hair was not an indigenous Celtic trait; rather, it was introduced into Ireland and Scotland via the Nordic invasions of Vikings, Normans, and later by way of English Protestant planters. It is less commonly found in Japan, the Middle East, and Africa. The gene for red hair is recessive and believed to be uncommon.

Red hair is genetically associated with lighter eye color, especially green, blue, and light to medium brown and pale, often melanin-less skin. Red hair has the highest amounts of phaeomelanin and the lowest of eumelanin. They have the thickest strands of hair and the lowest amounts of strands at 90,000.

Why do ppl think that scottish ppl hav red hair?
