Irish people tend to have lighter pigmentation that other origins. Hence light skin, freckles,%26amp; red hair or even blond. Like you said not all Irish people, but most. It's funny, my family is 100% irish and my dad has brown hair and eyes, my mom has brown hair blue eyes, I have the same as her and my 1 bro has blond hair blue eyes and my other bro has blond hair brown eyes. Strange huh? But I would have to say on my mom's side like 90% of the females have red hair and only about 10% of the guys. We have the auburn red hair tho not the orange and my dad's side has no red hair at all! So that just goes to show ya. But yeah mind my rambling, it's cuz of the pigmentation.

I suppose it must be because recessive genes are prominent there, and if they're on an island and have no foreigners with dominant genes to "darken" them (for lack of a better verb...) they would stay with light hair and eyes.

This is just a guess but it may be due to the climate they live in. You know, like the further north you go, a person's skin tone gets paler and lighter hair color (think blond) and light colored eyes. The further south you go, the darker colored your skin will be.

You ought to visit Nevada! I've never seen so many red-headed people in one place in my entire life! The majority of the "natives" are of Morman descent. (aside from the original natives who are of Indian descent). I'm not sure what any of that means, but I found it interesting! I fit right in!!!! :-)
