No red meat and hair loss?

okay, I have a silly question. For that last several months I have decided to cut out red meat completely. I eat chicken and fish(salmon) instead. I have also noticed an increase of hair loss, and some minor thinning along my scalp. I heard somewhere that if you dont eat red meat you can loose hair permanently, is this true?

No red meat and hair loss?

Yes i have a male friend hes bald and a vegeterian.

No red meat and hair loss?

It could be. up your intake of protein. There are other sources than mean you can get it from.

No red meat and hair loss?

I heard somewhere that if you do eat red meat you can get heart problems.

Is that true?

Which would you rather?

No red meat and hair loss?

It's been said that it can be true, but there haven't been any good studies done on it. I think there is some type of substance in the red meat that can do this, so just find other foods that have that (I wish I could tell you what it is). :)

No red meat and hair loss?

no, not true... the only nutrients from red meat is b12 and iron... and you get those from other meats and vegetables.. unless you are severely malnourished or stressed out, hairl oss is usually genetic...

btw you are more than likely getting PLENTY of protein... don't go out of your way to eat more.... and remember Alec Baldwin is a vegetarian and Nicholas cage is not....

No red meat and hair loss?

Don't know if it is generally true or not - - - but I am experiencing the exact same thing! Thinking of buying some steaks tomorrow!!!!!!!!! CJ

No red meat and hair loss?

Yes, red meat contains iron. If you cut it out, it can cause anemia, which reduces red blood cells. It's definitely not a good thing. Take a multivitamin every day that contains iron and you'll be fine.

No red meat and hair loss?

I never eat red meat. I can't stand it, it makes me sick--the taste, the texture, everything about it. But I have not had any hair loss. Maybe there's another reason for your condition, like stress, or something else environmental like smog. Try offsetting the loss with Rogaine applied topically every day. I know that really does work.

No red meat and hair loss?

Absolutely. Red meat contains essential proteins, ammino acids, and other complexes that encourage healthy nails and hair. We were built to be omnivores- just embrace it.

No red meat and hair loss?

you can't loose your hair because you don't eat red meat. Chicken has lots of protein in it. You may want to get your thyroid checked. I was loosing my hair bad, when I showered. it wrapped around my hands when I washed it and I sure enough had a hyper thyroid.

No red meat and hair loss?

You are just lacking protien. Take a supplement. Your hair will return to normal...given that that is the problem. I had the same problem when I cut out all meat about 12 years ago. a "bald" hairdresser is a bad thing...ON A GIRL. Dr. said it was a lack of protien...duh...should have known...hair is mostly protien!!! Good luck.

No red meat and hair loss?

Absolutely incorrect. Chicken and fish instead of red meat is very good and will reduce your chances of getting colon cancer. Your hair loss is totally unrelated to cutting out red meat and is due to other causes. Are you getting enough vitamin A, C and E and zinc?
